Seaton School

Situated on Seaton Place East and a feeder school for St. Machar Academy, Seaton School was built in 1937 at a cost of £45,000.
Facing south and occupying an area of around 5 acres, the two storey building had a frontage of 356 ft and housed 22 classrooms each capable of accommodating fifty pupils. In addition the building had a grass playing field behind the playgrounds, two gymnasiums, dressing rooms and a large needlework room.

Along with other buildings and housing in the area, Seaton School was built from granite to give the school “a pleasing appearance, with nothing ponderous about it”
Designed to be a light and airy place with ample window space and cross-ventilation in all rooms to ensure a plentiful supply of fresh air, it was reported that pupils “go willingly now, tripping and running full of zest and happiness, to renew their companionships at games and classes”

As part of the 3R’s project Seaton School was completely remodelled in 2010 providing facilities for up to 198 pupils, with community facilities, a family centre and an all-weather sports pitch. An additional aspect of the design enables the building to expand where necessary to accommodate more pupils beyond the designed capacity.
